I am a househead who accidentally became a DJ because of my frustration of not finding the house music I wanted on cds. I started my journey late in the game (age 42) and spent 5 years learning to mix and playing music in my livingroom for my own enjoyment.  My family thought I was going through "midlife crisis" and were waiting for me to get over it. 

I finally got the courage to play in public at an "Open Turntable" and, after appearing a few times, I was offered an opportunity to play during the breaks of the regular band and eventually advanced to playing 4 and 5 hour sets. 

I started out with classic house but I developed a passion for soulful and gospel house music after hearing selections from SuSu Bobien, Barbara Tucker and Kenny Bobien.  Gospel house music soothes, inspires, and comfort me.  Playing and listening to gospel house has helped me get through the best and worst of times

Still can't believe I've been doing this for close to 11 years and still learning, feeling and enjoying the music!

In this mix, I explore the rhythms of Afrobeat and Latin house.  I've always stayed away from these genres of house because I thought Afrobeat was too deep and Latin house too challenging.  As they say, there's nothing to fear but fear itself, lol.

Slavic (pictured in the photo on the right) recently contacted me requesting that I listen to his tracks.  He remarked that, although his tracks are "deep" that I would like two of his tracks, "Cab 155" and "The First Tribal (Guitar Stream) (Lab Joint EP)".  He was right!  I loved them!  I was so impressed by them that I scrapped the mix that was scheduled to play for Rhythmflow and did this mix instead, using his tracks as inspiration.  I'm sure that you will love them too!

Peter “Slavic” Mataboge from Rustenburg, South Africa, followed his dream to become producer, song writer and a singer. Passion, vision and faith - that’s what kept him going through his music dream. "Life is, more like a chess game, the more good moves you think you make, the more the opponent draws you to a checkmate."

Slavic started singing and writing as a young child in school and eventually became interested in music production.  He has been learning and producing tracks for the past four years.  This year, he started his own label. "Slavic Productions" and produced his first Lab Joint EP.
